Job opening (Belgium) – Lab Technician
GlobalYeast is a Belgian-Brazilian biotechnology start-up focused on developing
and deploying products and solutions for the fermentation industry. Base operations
are strategically placed in both countries to better serve our clients globally. Our
unique insight into fermentation processes is based on our strong knowledge of yeast
metabolism and genetics and on applied research at the frontier of these sciences.
GlobalYeast was established in 2015 with the support from a Brazilian venture fund
investor and also from the Belgian VIB, KUL/GFF and PMV. Our company is already
commercializing its proprietary solutions in the dynamic markets of the US and Brazil.
You will be responsible for the daily organization of the laboratory facilities and
will be the contact person for suppliers. Besides that, you will actively participate in
research projects. You will analyze and interpret experimental data and present this
to a wider team. You will work at GlobalYeast’s laboratory at the Bio-Incubator in
Leuven, a dynamic city in the heart of biotechnology in Flanders.
We are looking for a dynamic and positive person that is able to work
independently, with respect to time limits and according to the highest lab standards.
Ideally, you – have a Bachelor degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, or a
- have experience in molecular biology
- work accurate and deliver high quality
- are eager to learn, love challenges and are flexible
- have advanced skills in English, both verbal and written
Experience in yeast cell culture and fermentation, HPLC and PCR is a plus. Experience
in analytical methodologies is also regarded as a plus.
